Information We Collect
GiftPilot collects the information you provide when creating an account, including your name, email address, and authentication method (email or Sign in with Apple). Within the app, you may add names, ages, birthdays, interests, and gift ideas for people you know. This information is used solely to provide the app's features.
Local Data Storage
Gift ideas, people profiles, and your preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you use features that require it, such as Shared Lists.
Account & Backend Data
Your account profile (name, email, user ID) is securely stored on our backend servers to enable features like cross-device login and account recovery. Shared Lists data — including gift items and claimed status — is also stored on our servers to allow real-time collaboration with family members. This data is protected using industry-standard security practices and is never sold to third parties.
Shared Lists
When you create a Shared List, the gift list data (person name, gift items, claimed status) is stored on our secure servers and accessible via a shareable link. Anyone with the link who has the GiftPilot app installed can view and interact with the list. You can delete a shared list at any time, which removes it from our servers.
AI-Powered Suggestions
When you use the gift search feature, anonymized information about interests, age range, and occasion is sent to an AI service to generate gift suggestions. No personally identifiable information (such as your name or email) is included in these requests. AI suggestions are generated in real time and not stored on our servers.
Notifications
With your permission, GiftPilot sends local birthday reminder notifications. These notifications are generated entirely on-device and do not involve any external servers. You can disable notifications at any time in the iOS Settings app.
In-App Purchases
Premium subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not store or process your payment information directly. Purchase history is managed by Apple and RevenueCat in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
Your Rights
You can delete all local data by using the "Delete Account" option in Settings. To request deletion of your account and any backend data (profile, shared lists), contact us at support@giftpilotapp.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
