2. Information we collect
Account information
Your email address and name, provided via Sign in with Apple (if you choose to share them).
User-provided data
Names, relationships, birthdays, anniversaries, interests, gifting styles, budgets, gift ideas, wishlists, and gift history that you enter into the app. This is your data — you control what you put in and you can delete it any time.
Onboarding preferences
Default budget, gifting style, and occasion preferences from the onboarding quiz.
Device & usage data
Feature usage patterns, crash reports, device type, OS version, and a non-identifying install ID. We do not collect precise location.
Subscription data
Apple processes all payments. We receive only transaction receipts and subscription status — never your card or billing details.
3. How we use your information
- Store your people, ideas, budgets, reminders, and gift history
- Generate personalised AI gift suggestions
- Send notifications you have enabled (birthdays, anniversaries, inspiration, summaries)
- Sync to Apple Calendar when you turn that feature on
- Process subscriptions through the App Store
- Improve the app, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and handle support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
4. AI gift search
When you search for a gift, we send the relevant inputs — the recipient details and search prompt you have entered — to a third-party AI provider. Our data-sharing agreements explicitly prohibit model training on user prompts.
AI-generated suggestions are not endorsements. Always verify product details, pricing, availability, and safety before purchasing.
5. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising in the app.
Service providers we work with include:
- Apple — sign-in, notifications, subscriptions, calendar sync, and the App Store
- Cloud hosting and database providers
- AI providers for gift generation
- Privacy-respecting analytics and crash reporting tools
- Email services for transactional messages
Information may be disclosed if required by law, to protect safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction.
Shared wishlists are accessible via link. You can revoke any share at any time.
6. Subscriptions & payments
GiftPilot Pro auto-renews through the App Store. Apple manages payment and billing — we never access your card information. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time via iPhone Settings › [Your Name] › Subscriptions › GiftPilot.
7. Children's privacy
GiftPilot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact support@giftpilotapp.com.
8. Your rights & choices
- Access: View all your data directly in the app at any time.
- Edit & delete: Modify or remove any item whenever you want.
- Account deletion: Delete your account from within the app or by emailing us.
- Notifications: Disabled by default; control them via iOS Settings.
- Tracking: We don't use cross-app tracking; App Tracking Transparency doesn't apply.
- Regional rights: EU/EEA, UK, and California residents have additional protections under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively.
9. Data retention
Your data persists for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile and the data attached to it within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted and audited. We recommend using a strong password and enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID for additional protection.
11. International transfers
GiftPilot operates from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US and the locations of our service providers. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
12. Changes to this policy
Material updates will appear on this page with an updated date. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email.
